Sustainability

To Us, Sustainability Means More

At Scheid Family Wines, sustainability is one of our guiding principles and we subscribe to a holistic definition of the word: something that can be maintained long-term.

As a multi-generational family business that’s rooted in community, we apply this mindful, forward-looking philosophy to every aspect of our operation, and strive to create sustainable conditions not just for our environment, but also for our teammates, customers, and the communities we live and work in.

Our Environmental Efforts

As custodians of the land, we’re committed to respecting and preserving our environment. Through the years, we’ve received major sustainability and organic certifications across our vineyards and winery. Towering above it all is the 400-foot-tall wind turbine that supplies us—and over 200 homes in the surrounding neighborhood—with 100% clean and renewable energy.

Green Initiatives

Our Contributions to the Community

Our all-encompassing approach to sustainability includes putting people first, too. As an employer, we strive to elevate our team’s quality of life through competitive compensation, health insurance, 401K contributions, continuing education, and sustainable labor practices.

As a member of the Monterey County community, we continue to uplift those around us by funding scholarship programs, supporting local philanthropies, participating in local events and initiatives, and more.
